The Black Stone

All praise to Allah.and peace be upon His messenger.


A Christian friend once asked:

"I see that Muslims are kissing those black stone(i.e. the Hajarul Aswad) at the Kaabah.I also understood that such deed is depicted in the Hadith and that the Prophet companions did that because they saw Rasulullah has done the same.Now I wonder why there exist such deed in Islam?That act of kissing the black stone seems like an act of worship to me,that Muslim do it to get blessings from Allah.However, Isn't Islam strongly prohibit the worship of idols other than Allah, and that Muslim should worship and make total submission to Allah and Allah only?"



Maybe we can use an analogy to answer your question there.

Lets imagine Islam is like a supercar.say, a Lamborghini Murcielago (picture).It is a very fast car and very macho-looking.with fierce exhaust sound that would certainly draw attention from people in the surrounding.Basically, every men (and boys) would drool to have it.


And the blackstone issue that you've raised would be a small "Hello Kitty" or "Pokemon" sticker that has been put on the lower right corner of the car's windscreen. And that sticker was put there by the car owner's daughter.

Certainly, for those who saw such sticker on the car, not knowing the owner, or the reason why the sticker is there,would come out with a statement saying "what a poofter" or sort.this is since the sticker clearly doesnt fit the macho and fierce look of the car.

However, they certainly are wrong.It's just that the car owner loves his daughter so much that he wouldnt mind having that sticker on his million dollar super car.Anyways, that sticker wouldnt affect the car's performance at all.he can just tear it down anytime he likes and that also wouldnt affect his car's performance.The Murcielago can still go from 0km/h to 100km/h in about 3 seconds.with top speed of about 300km/h.It is still a respectable super car even with that small Hello Kitty sticker on it.Furthermore, that Hello Kitty sticker is there because of the sacred love of a father towards his children.


So is it fair for you to condemn such a good car for that bloody sticker?
