assalamualaikum...peace to all...
couple of days ago, a friend of mine asked me a question:
"what are the differences between malaysia's education system and aussie's?"
and by that question he meant at school level.so this post is intended to answer his question.
well, from what i know, both system are indeed quite different. One of the significant differences is that here they pay great attention to assignments and course works too apart from exams and tests.and from what i have been gone through, the Australian Year 12, the assessment was made up as 50-50.that is 50% are from exams mark and another 50% from assignmnts.
the assignments include extended essays, issue analysis and presentations.not sure whether this system of theirs is better from ours.but from my opinion, it is quite good.it helps students to obtained skills other than memorizing notes.information searching skill, presentation skill and critical thinking are some examples of them.also, we get to be quite independent in our learning.as in to complete all those assignments.so this kinda prepare us for university environment.
also, each state in australia have their own education assessment board.meaning their education system too are quite different for different state.for instance, in south australia, the secondary school certificate is called SACE.whilst for western australia it is called WACE.this is quite intriguing for me though.but perhaps it is due to the size of australia itself and the size of each states.they are just huge.
hm.i guess thats all that i know.
cheers.

salam ,
dear my bro aiman..
what a great topic you have here..
well..your answer is really benefits me..haha
as for me..
Malaysian educstion system is all about exam oriented..as for a primary levels student...they need to excel in UPSR,lower secondary in PMR, and high secondary in SPM,Stpm ..so..in my point of view...it is not so good on sake of knowledge that gain by a student..I'll agree more in Aussie system...that actually...applied in tertier level of Malaysian Edu system..
well...MOE must to open their eyes on this i guess...
wsalam.oho.this actually was asked by afiq toik.dia suruh post kt blog. and yea, they have quite an interesting system.but can be quite stressful wo.heh.
owh lupe nk tambah.result skool not just calculated from number of A's.but we are given our percentage of achievement in relative to others.like normal curve and percentile all that.
oohh i just hate Aussie's everything. LOL. (meant to be funny!!, dun exclude me from the country!)
I like malaysian system better. If i had a child, I'll put her/him in sekolah kebangsaan biasa, xpayah private2 or international, go mengaji, kalu dpt masok asrama, masok, be like normal people, and one thing dun push the child over limit and dun place the child at a place that isnt belong to her/him.
i just cant help but talking crap. ampun
oh hi aiman
waalaikumussalam
ability and effort
